CUSTOM PET MEMORIAL SERVICES

Have you been looking for a unique and personalized way to memorialize your beloved pet? We know losing a pet is incredibly difficult, but we can help you honor and remember them in the most unique way by preserving them as a long lasting specimen.

Whether your furry, slimy, or scaly friend is in their final days, recently gone over the Rainbow Bridge, or you’ve been waiting to find the perfect way to preserve them in death, we can help commemorate their life and the joy that they brought to yours. They can also be a thoughtful and meaningful gift for someone close to you who has recently lost a pet. Our commissions are currently open with no lead time and are being processed on a first come first serve basis.

What types of preservation do you offer?
We specialize in wet specimens, but do offer mummification for small animals and insect pinning as well.

What types of specimens are you able to preserve?
We are able to preserve virtually any small animal, mammal, amphibian, fish, bird, insect, arachnid, etc. Please note that while larger animals are doable, they may not always be feasible for shipping.

What is wet specimen preservation and how long does it take?
Essentially, it’s the process of embalming. Specimens are injected and then soaked with a fixative until their tissue is hardened which stops and prevents the process of decomposition. Depending on the size of the specimen, the process can take between 2 weeks and 2 months (give or take). Once fully hardened, the specimen is leeched of the chemical and held indefinitely in 70% isopropyl alcohol. The result of this preservation is a stunning and realistic display that in the past could only really be enjoyed in museums or learning institutes. Wet specimen preservation has become increasingly popular in recent years, first with collectors of the strange and unusual, and now expanding to be a wonderful (and cost effective!) alternative to cremation or burial for pet owners that would like to keep their companions by their sides forevermore. If properly cared for, our wet specimens can last well beyond this lifetime!

Will the final product actually look like my pet?
Yes and no. Decomposition changes are inevitable, and the quicker they are frozen after death the closer they will look to how they did in life. Specimens tend to stay in the position that they passed in due to rigor mortis, but a lot of the time we are able to manipulate posing so if you have a preference please mention it to us during our consultation. In essence, the specimen is of course 100% your pet, but each preservation technique may slightly change them, such as bright colors may fading over time or tissue shrinkage.

How does this process work?
Each commission we process is carefully handcrafted in a laboratory setting with the proper chemicals and techniques to ensure the best (and safest!) possible preservation of your pet that will last well beyond our lifetime.
After we receive your questionnaire we will reach out with any questions/comments, then draw up a detailed invoice and contract for you to review and sign within 2 business days of receiving your consultation. Once your signed contract and payment are received, we will initiate the shipping process which will be customized to the size of your specimen. You will be given detailed instructions on proper shipping techniques and for larger specimens complimentary insulated packaging and ice packs will be supplied. Once the specimen arrives to us we keep in touch throughout the process!

How is the process customizable to me?
During our consultation we will go over any preferences you may have, and choose the perfect memorial container for your pet. You may supply us with a container of your choosing, or you can choose from the many that we have available. Most of the time, specimens tend to choose their own eternal resting positions in the containers, but we are able to slightly manipulate things such as positioning and posing. We are working on adding more customizations to our processing, so please feel free to ask about anything specific you are interested in! We will keep you updated on our progress throughout the process.

How much does the process cost?
The price of preservation varies depending on the size of the specimen and your requested specifications and will be determined at the time of consultation after we review the provided information. Typically, the preservation fee is paid to initiate the process, and the shipping fees are paid at the time of project completion prior to return shipping. Payment plans are available if needed.

How will my specimen be shipped back to me, and how do I care for it when it arrives?

Once your specimen is fully preserved, we will begin the process of "leeching" the preservation chemicals and when that is finished your specimen will be shipped back to you WITHOUT fluid either in your requested container or a sealed bag if you already have one at home. When you purchase this consultation, in depth instructions will be available for download, which includes your final care instructions. You will need to have 70% isopropyl alcohol on hand for when your specimen returns home.

What do I need to know in the mean time?
The most important thing to know about this process is that the specimen should be frozen as soon as possible after death. We know that this part may be difficult for some and sometimes not always possible, but it will ensure proper preservation prior to fixing. Basically, the faster a specimen is frozen, the better it will look upon fixation. Your specimen should be frozen in a airtight container or plastic bag to prevent freezer burn and any other damage that could occur.

If you have any remaining questions at all prior to booking your consultation, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us. We are honored you have considered us to memorialize your pet and look forward to working with you!
